Founded by Ryan in 1999, Blade Runners Lawn & Landscapes has spent twenty-five years quietly turning ordinary metro Detroit properties into the best-looking ones on the block. Same crew, same standards, same number to call.
Ryan started Blade Runners Lawn & Landscapes in 1999 because he was tired of watching people get burned by landscape companies that overpromised, undershowed, and disappeared by August. The plan was simple: keep the route small enough that the same trucks ran the same neighborhoods every week, and refuse to cut corners on the work that actually shows.
Twenty-five years later, the plan has not changed.
What separates Blade Runners from most companies in metro Detroit is what we have intentionally not done. We have not chased the franchise model. We have not stretched the route to take every job that called. We have not handed off to a rotating cast of subcontractors so the crew that bid your job is not the crew that shows up.
Our foreman Mateo and his brother run the sod and landscape installs. Ryan still answers the phone. The crew that mows your lawn in July is the same one plowing your driveway in January. When clients stay with us for ten, fifteen, twenty years, that is why.
We are not the cheapest crew in the metro. We are also not the most expensive. We sit in the middle and stay there because we are running a sustainable business, not a race to the bottom. If you are shopping purely on price, we are probably not the right fit, and we will tell you that on the first call.
We also do not take every job that comes in. If a property is outside our route, if the timing does not work, or if the scope is something we are not the right team for, we will say so and point you somewhere honest.
Headquartered in Livonia, MI, our route covers Livonia, Novi, Northville, Plymouth, Farmington Hills, Westland, Redford, Canton, and South Lyon. About half our work is residential, the other half is commercial contracts with HOAs, office parks, medical buildings, and retail centers. We have customers we have served continuously since the early 2000s.
Ryan, founder and operator, is who you'll talk to on most estimates and what we'll write into your project. He grew up doing this work and has been doing it as a business for over half his life.
Mateo leads our install crew. If we are putting in your sod, your patio, or your front-yard redesign, Mateo is the foreman walking the job. Customers call him out by name in reviews for a reason.
Behind them is a small, tight roster of seasonal crew who we trust because we have worked with them long enough to trust them. We do not run a nameless rotating door of contractors.
Blade Runners Lawn & Landscapes, LLC is fully licensed and insured in the state of Michigan, including general liability and workers' comp. Certificates of insurance are available on request, and we send them automatically when we sign a commercial contract. Our COI limits are HOA-grade by default, not bare-minimum.
The honest pitch: we are not trying to be the company you brag about. We are trying to be the company that quietly takes one whole category of stress off your list, year after year, until you forget the property used to be something you worried about.
